News from La Perla

In March we celebrated our first anniversary as the owners of La Perla de Frigiliana, we also celebrated our first successful Art Retreat here and last but not least we celebrated the end of the ‘rain season’! We were very lucky with the weather during the week long Art Retreat, since most of the planned activities were best realized outdoors.

The two lovely and skilled solution-oriented therapists Sari and Terhi had planned a retreat where therapeutic methods were used through art and painting to help participants feel better and overcome their own barriers. The whole Villa was full of joy and laughter as well as silence and concentration as the sessions went on and colors filled the canvases. The participants graded their therapists Sari and Terhi as well as our Villa La Perla perfect match for the occasion. The program was not too tight to give participants enough time to discover Frigiliana and Nerja. Please go and check out their web page for more info at https://www.dearte.fi/.

There will be a second Art Retreat in October this year and they might still have some room for the interested ones. We are really looking forward to that!

This winter didn’t bring as much snow to the mountains as one could have thought by the rainfall that we got here by the beach. Therefore, and maybe due to very busy times at La Perla, we didn’t get to go skiing as much as we would have wanted to at Sierra Nevada this season. February and especially March are great sunny periods for downhill fun if you just have the time to go there. Keep that in mind for the next season and book your stay with us early!

Frigiliana is a great little village. It is such an authentic and beautiful white village with just enough of everything to fall in love with it. For those who have visited it know, and they also know that there is a lot of difference in elevation and a lot of stairs and narrow paths. One proof of Frigiliana's authenticity came across us the other day on our daily walk as we noticed some construction works going on in the old town. If you want to do some renovation on your property in the old town, it’s time to call the donkeys! They may be the only way to carry your heavy loads to the site.

Until next time, with love, Maarit & Hannu
